Fideus de Vermar (traditional pasta with meat) Competition

Competition for the best traditional fideus de vermar. This culinary holiday is held in the town of Binissalem in Mallorca and timed to coincide with the start of the grape harvest. It unites locals and guests around the preparation of fideus de vermar — a pasta dish with meat and wine that symbolises the harvest season. The festival includes a culinary competition between teams, a shared dinner with tasting of prepared dishes, as well as musical performances, a youth party and awarding the winners. Teams of various age groups, from teenagers to adults, take part in the competition and use ingredients provided by the organisers. The holiday is aimed to preserve the gastronomic heritage of the region, develop a sense of unity and popularise local traditions.
