Correaigua: running and water to the rhythm of drums
Date: 18.07.2026
Location: Sa Pobla. Mallorca
Correaigua (Catalan corre-aigua — «running — water») is a street water race for children, teenagers and adults. They run along the streets, spraying each other with water guns, hoses and buckets. The event is accompanied by drummers who create a lively and rhythmic atmosphere.
The holiday originated in Catalonia in the second half of XX century, around the 1980s, as a safe alternative for Correfoc — a vibrant parade with fireworks and demons. Unlike Correfoc, water replaces fire in Correaigua, which makes it especially popular in summer heat. The idea is simple: to hold a fun and refreshing run, with water spraying, music and dancing.
