“The Government Inspector” Play. 13.11.24

The Principal theater will show the satirical comedy “The Government Inspector” based on the same named play by N.V. Gogol, themed around exposing the vices of society, all in a modernised interpretation of Miguel del Arco.
The premiere of “The Government Inspector” took place in 1836 in Saint-Petersburg.
According to the script of Miguel del Arco ‘s production, a provincial town receives a notice that the central government has sent a tax inspector who can arrive incognito at any given moment. These news launch the mayor and all the officials around him, all of whom are dishonest about public affairs, into a state of panic. And from the moment of the Inspector’s arrival, the true faces of all the characters will be revealed to the audience.
This play, a modern adaptation directed by Miguel del Arco, gives a view on the lies and the evil that still reign among officials today.
