The rice fair in Sa Pobla (Fira de l’Arròs Pobler) is an annual event held on the little town of Sa Pobla on Mallorca. Sa Pobla is known as the main rice growing region on the island.
The rice fair is dedicated to the culture of this product and the traditions associated with its preparation. The leading chefs and locals prepare dishes with rice in different variations for the guests. The famous aromatic Mallorcan arroz brut (translates to «dirty rice») with meat, vegetables and spices is very popular.
At the fair you can learn to cook traditional Mallorcan dishes, local chefs will be happy to share recipes with guests. Farmers and artisans will sell their goods, including rice products, vegetables, fruits, olive oil and cheese.
Folklore bands are scheduled to perform at the fair with traditional dances and songs in national costumes.
