Much (La Mucada) Sineu
Date: 11.08.2025
Venue: Sineu. Mallorca
La Mucada de Sineu is a colorful and satirical folk festival held every August in the town of Sineu, on the island of Mallorca. Despite being under 20, it has already become a cult event, attracting up to 20,000 participants. The protagonists of the festival, the horned symbol Much and his companion Muca, present ironic images inspired by local legends, which symbolize a parody of the traditional festivals of the villages. The central color of the event is bright pink, which is used in the decoration of costumes, cars and the entire village.
The festivities begin with a morning procession on bicycles and decorated carts to the hill of Puig de Reig, where they take place simulated contests as the draw and loot, the egg throwing and the ritual challenge of the Much. Participants then return to the centre of Sineu, where they read satirical prayers, an ironic speech of celebration from the Ayuntamiento balcony. Next comes the Encèrvol, a humorous version of the bullfight, and the carnival performances of San Mukín. The festivities conclude at night in the central plaza des Fossar with the meeting of Much and Muca among cheers, dancing and music of all.
Much is not only fun, but also an expression of the collective spirit, a satire on contemporary themes such as housing, tourism and ecology. This celebration represents a unique fusion of tradition and modernity through local self-irony, hilarious absurdity and creative madness
