Fonts Ufanes
Fonts Ufanes is a unique hydrogeological phenomenon in Mallorca that happens after heavy rains. The water suddenly erupts from under the ground in the forest, creating springs and rivers. These springs are located on the territory of the Gabelli Petit estate, next to the Sant Miquel chapel in the municipality of Campanet. After heavy rains, water accumulates in underground reservoirs in the Puig Tomir area and, when they overflow, bursts to the surface with great force, forming temporary streams.
You can reach the springs by car, following MA-13 until exit 37 in the direction of the Campanet caves. It is better to park the car near the chapel of San Miguel and then continue on foot to the Gabelli Petit estate. You can also visit Fonts Ufanes on foot, about 20 minutes along an easy route through an oak forest.
The Gabelli Petit estate is opened to visitors every day from 10:00 to 17:00. It’s recommended to wear shoes suitable for rainy weather.
The best time to visit Fonts Ufanes is during autumn and winter, when the probability of heavy rains is higher and there’s a chance to see this fascinating phenomenon.
