Saint Marc’s Day

The day of St. Marc, the patron of the town of Sineu, is an important holiday for the locals. On this day, a solemn service is held in the main church of the city, and after the service, a procession of the clergy and townspeople is organized through the streets of Sineu. The people organise markets with local products, crafts and even livestock. St. Marc is considered the patron of farmers and agriculture.
One of the main dishes of the holiday are snails (karakoles). Many locals enjoy a rich snail soup, prepared with spices and meat broth. It is believed that whoever eats snails will be healthy all year long
