Saint Anthony of Padua’s Day
Date: 13.06.25
Location: Arta. Mallorca
In the town of Arta, in its historical centre, the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, known as Saint Anthony of the Apricot or Saint Anthony of June, will take place. Saint Anthony of Padua is considered to be the patron of children, women, the poor and those who seek what is lost.
This town celebration is one of the most ancient ones. The events take place next to the Monastery of St. Anthony, where the Franciscan church is located. They include a festive march, in which, next to Saint Anthony’s carriage, students of Son Bonaventura school dressed as angels walk and dance with wooden horses. One of them, usually a junior high school student, depicts the saint himself, dressed in the traditional trappings: lilies, a gospel and a golden crown. He rides in a carriage decorated with flowers and lights.
