“Nuremberg” the movie

The “Nuremberg” movie is a historical psychological drama directed by James Vanderbilt, based on the book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist”. At the centre of the story is Douglas Kelly, who is tasked with assessing the psychological state of the high ranking nazi criminals before the start of the Nuremberg trials.
The film stars Rami Malek as a psychiatrist and Russell Crowe as one of the former leaders of Nazi Germany. The movie doesn’t just explore the history of the trial but also the complicated physiology of the people behind these monstrous crimes, depicting a tense standoff between the doctor and the accused.
The film was first presented at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where it received prolonged ovation. The worldwide premiere took place on November 7 2025. Critics highly rated the acting — especially the duet of Malek and Crowe. However, opinions on the film’s dramaturgy and tone were divided.
Despite this, “Nuremberg” attracted the attention of both the audience and the press thanks to its serious subject matter and powerful psychological conflicts.
