Lighting of the Watchtowers and Talayots of the Mediterranean for Human Rights

Every year, a unique event called “Encesa de llums als talaiots i torres de guaita” — “Lighting of the Watchtowers and Talayots” takes place in Mallorca. This event symbolises the fight for human rights and solidarity. During the action, fires are lit on top of the island’s historical buildings, like the ancient watchtower and talayots, that make up Mallorca’s cultural heritage.
Organised by the Council of Mallorca, the Cooperation Fund of Mallorca and Amnesty International. Along with the support of the municipalities of Mallorca, the fire brigade of Mallorca and the 112 emergency service. This event is a powerful symbol of solidarity, unity and dedication to human rights’ protection.
