Jaume Plensa “Look at me”. 19.09.24-15.02.25
Location: Palma
Jaume Plensa is a famous spanish sculptor. He is considered one of the most influential modern artists in Spain, renowned for his monumental sculptures and installations. In his works, Plensa experiments with different materials such as glass, bronze, aluminium and actively works with light.
“Mirall” – the name of the sculptures, which in Catalan means “Look at me” – is made of steel gratings that create a translucent structure, allowing it to merge harmoniously with the surrounding space and be almost phantom.

Jaume Plensa created an astonishing installation in La Lonja, one of the most notable gothic buildings in Palma that used to be a trading exchange. His exhibition consists of massive statues made in his characteristic style – figures and heads that convey universal emotions and inner fears.
These sculptures are made out of different materials like metal, glass and even light. They not only symbolise the human soul but also underline the importance of silence and the state of inner tranquility, encouraging the audience to self reflect. Plensa masterfully creates spaces where art interacts with historical architecture, which enhances the impact of his works.
