Horse festival
Date: 14.06.25-24.06.25
Location: Mancor de la Vall. Mallorca
The horse festival in Mancor de la Vall, a small town in Mallorca, is a traditional event that takes place as part of the celebration of St. John from June 14 to 24. Special attention is paid to the horses and jockeys that participate in a colourful city parade.
The festival is inspired by traditions of the island of Menorca: the horses, often specially delivered from Menorca by boat, are of the cavall menorquí variety. This breed is considered one of the most ancient in Europe. Menorcan horses are known for their grace, strength and endurance, which make them perfect for participating in such events.
The jockeys, or caixers, are traditionally dressed in white suits with black hats and jackets, which gives the event a special atmosphere. Together with the horses they perform what is called “bots” — jumps and dances to traditional music, as well as other complex maneuvers and tricks, demonstrating their mastery of horse control.
Up-to-date information about the program of events can be found on the official website of the city hall.
