Pilgrimage to the Monastery of Lluc from rural Mallorca.
Date: 13.09.2025 – 14.09.2025
Location: Mallorca
«Pujada a Lluc a Peu», which in Catalan means “Ascension to Lluc on foot”, is an annual mass pilgrimage in the island of Mallorca. Participants take a night walk to the monastery of Lluc (Santuari de Lluc), located in Sierra de Tramuntana mountains, the island’s spiritual centre.
In 2025, the pilgrimage will take place on the night of September 13-14 for the 44th time (XLIV). This event has become an essential part of Mallorca’s cultural and spiritual life.
The pilgrimage starts in different villages and towns around the island but most participants begin their journey from so-called «Part Forana» — a rural part of Mallorca outside Palma. People walk in groups with friends, families or like-minded people, overcoming tens of kilometres in order to see the sunrise next to the monastery.
Each participant has their own reasons to join in: some do it for religious reasons, some in memory of their loved ones, some for the sake of spiritual experience or as a physical challenge. But everyone is united by an atmosphere of solidarity, respect and determination. This is not a competition, but a path – to oneself, to faith and to community.
The event is organised by local officials, such as Consell de Mallorca, as well as municipalities of Inca, Campos, Felanitx, Alcudia and others. The pilgrimage is supported by volunteers, medical and law enforcement services, which guarantees safety even for those without special training.
