Ridley Scott returns to the epic theme of Rome with the long-awaited sequel of the “Gladiator”. The plot of the new part brings viewers to an older Lucian, nephew of Commodore, and son of Lucila. The story unfolds years after the death of Maximus, when Lucius was forced to engage in gladiatorial battles against the cruel rulers of Rome.
The film stars Denzel Washington, playing the powerful Macrin who seeks to conquer power in Rome, and Pedro Pascal, whose role is full of intrigue and drama. The audience will also see Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen.
The visual style of the film, as critics note, resembles the original “Gladiator” style. It is filled with spectacular scenes such as the battle with the Rhinoceros in the Colosseum, and epic sea battles.
“Gladiator II” is a promising sequel, worthy of its first part, where Ancient Roman dramas and action were perfectly combined.
