Exhibition “All utopias pass through the stomach”

Date: 21.09.24-05.01.25

Location: Palma. Mallorca

An exhibition by Carlos Garaicoa, a modern Cuban artist, who specialises in photography and multimedia installations, called “All utopias pass through the stomach”, will be held in the museum of contemporary arts Es Baluard in Palma.

The exhibition is a dive into the links between food, utopia and societal structure. The artist uses gastronomy as a metaphor to analyse social, political and economic structures. The core of the exposition is a question of how the human striving for a utopia can be limited or based upon basic needs, like nutrition.

Food is one of the key themes in the work of Garaicoa, who is better known for his interest in architecture and the urban environment.
