”Dido and Aeneas” is one of the most famous works of Henry Purcell, an english baroque’s masterpiece. The opera’s libretto is based on Virgil’s epic “Aeneid”, which tells the tragic love story of Queen Dido of Carthage and the Trojan prince Aeneas. The opera is famous for its beauty and emotional depth, the audience being especially astonished by the aria “When I am laid in earth” (“Dido’s Lament”).
Opera “Dido and Aeneas” is presented as part of the 39th season in Teatro Principale and will be performed in english with subtitles in spanish and catalan.
Recommended for those 12 years old and up.
