Apricot festival

The Apricot festival in Porreras is a celebration dedicated to one of the most notable fruits of Mallorca. The town of Porreras located in the very heart of the island, is considered one of Mallorca’s main apricot producers
Since the end of the nineteenth century, apricots from Porreras have been exported all over Europe. In the 1950s-1980s they were dried in a special way and sold as orejones (dried apricots). This product was very popular on the international market.Varieties such as canino, vermell carlet, murtó and gala vermella are still renowned for their rich flavour and wide variety of uses.
Every year in June, the streets of Porreras get filled with scents of fresh and dried apricots and sounds of live music. During the festival-fair, guests will be able to visit more than 30 stalls selling fresh and dried apricots, jams, liqueurs and confitures, as well as apricot pastries.
